Cultural Studies and Post Colonialism

Post colonialism talks about the economic and socio-cultural situation of the colonized nations after the end of colonialism. In Cultural studies, however, it is observed that in today's capitalist world colonialism has continued to exist. Concepts like globalization has made the third world nations indebted to the first world nations. Especially, in the modern times, also deals with issues such as diaspora and cultural hybridity, at a time when migration has become a common phenomenon.

We can ask questions like:
How far have the third world nations achieved freedom from the colonial powers?
Has capitalism and globalization created newer modes of colonization?

Post colonialism takes into consideration the fact that colonization was a two way process and that often the voices of the colonized were not heard. And also how such issues have continued even today.

Within post colonialism is again the neocolonial discourse, where the decolonized people and their cultures are described by over- inclusive terms such the 'The Third World', which neglect the heterogeneous individuality of these identities.

Imagine a blank page. Imagine that you are told to write, paint, draw, anything you wish to. At first, this exercise would make one feel happy with the fact that they are free to express whatever and however they wish to. But the next moment the same freedom would lead to confusion.
