Frankenstein

Dreams, intuitions, fantasy, etc are some of the defining terms for Romantic literary technique. The Romantics relied a lot on the imaginative faculty of the human mind.  Dreams and other unconscious faculties were the base for a lot many Romantic works ranging from Blake's intuitive poetry to the dream sequences of Keats' poetry. The same was the case with the various fictional prose works and especially novels. One such significant novel is Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. Not only is the novel a manifestation of the horrible consequences of meddling with the natural cycle of birth and creation, but is also a new perspective towards the philosophical concepts like the relation of the creator and creation. I. A Richards' Figurative language

New Criticism marked the beginning of not only a new way of the analysis of literary composition, but also of a new perspective towards literature in all its universality, no matter in what language it is written. And Richards' Practical Criticism as well as his principles regarding the types of meanings and misunderstandings while reading a literary work, is a great contribution. Also songs have been and are an integral part of our lives. And for literature they form an equally important area of study.
